Yesterday I finally finished my february dress ... it's not perfect (bust dart hell!) but it'll do :)  I'd made covered buttons of the strawbs and I should have used the green collar fabric instead, because the card of green buttons that I grabbed months ago on sale as a guestimate at  colour matching are what I ended up using. This year I have to miss Free Comic Book Day cos I'll be at the sewing retreat. I've been meaning to list the medieval fairs, sci fi , anime, pop culture annual - or at least repeat - events cos it's so easly to lose track of what there is.  (edited to add that I've dated this post to 2014 2012, and if the mayans are right we won't need to know in 2013).

Up in the Blue Mountains, Woodford Academy is a National Trust property that dates back to the 1830s. There might be an older single building in the area but not by much as europeans didn't find a crossing over the mountains until 1813.

We started the day with a delicious breakfast, in costume to the bemusement of other cafe patrons who weren't aware of what was happening at the University conference facilities that weekend. Not that we were the only ones in costume.

It's int'l talk like a pirate day, and this land lubber is frocking up in dark ages viking after work & going to the opening of the Viking exhibition at the ANMM - they're even sailing the repro viking ship on the harbour outside the museum. I feel incredibly lucky have been invited to the launch of a new vintage pattern range.  I got to know Lorna of Stitch Up History about 18 months ago through the ACG, and until a few weeks ago didn't have a clue that she'd been working on a vintage pattern range. Let alone know that it was almost launch time.
